Lincoln City Vs Grimsby Town

Lincoln City - Sincil Bank

Ground Number : 16
Lincoln City 3-2 Grimsby Town
09/09/14
Vanarama Premier

Derby day! My 4th ground this season and what a game I have installed for me. Lincoln haven't beat Grimsby yet since they have been in the conference and they will be looking to change that this evening. It was a 7.45pm kick off so I had most of the day off. Our coach left 4pm because Lincoln isn't that far from Grimsby so it was a short trip up which isn't that bad. I was really excited about this match because I felt Grimsby would off been up for it after we have sold out our away tickets once again so I felt the players would of been motivated. But we finally got off at 4 and the short journey began once we arrived at Sincil Bank I looked at my camera battery and it only had a little bit of battery left! But I was hopeful it would last. Before I entered the ground I had a quick look in there club shop to see what they had but I purchased myself match day programme and a pen for £3.50 which isn't that bad for a price.
Once I finally entered the ground I bought myself a chip bun which was very nice for a good price too for about £2. The I was waiting for the team news and finally we got the teams with Grimsby starting as a 4-5-1 with McKeown, Bignot, Pearson, Nsiala, Magnay, Pitman, Disley, Brown, Clay, Neilson and John-Lewis. Also Grimsby had a referee who the fans do not like and that was Mr Darren England.

The atmosphere was so good from Grimsby but also you could here the 617 also known as the Lincoln supporters trying to out sing each other and you could feel the energy around the ground. But Grimsby had the worst start after Burrow scored within the 8th minute to give Lincoln the lead then Darren England awarded Lincoln with a penalty and it was the chance to double the lead but Tomlinson missed it and Grimsby were still in the game. Captain fantastic Disley scored just before half time to give the mariners something to cheer about. Second half began and within 17 minutes the referee gave Lincoln another penalty!! I just couldn't believe it and Newton only just scored it to make it 2-1 but Grimsby wouldn't quit because within 2 minutes former Wycombe player Pitman scored a wonderful goal to make it 2-2 with 30 minutes left to play. Then Lincoln scored the winner in the 88th minute but it looked like a foul was made on the Grimsby keeper and that was it Lincoln managed to beat Grimsby 3-2 in front of 5,209 with it being 2,000 from Grimsby too. I was really gutted about this because it was such a massive game I feel we was let down.

Overall it was a massive disappointment because Grimsby didn't play at there best and we lost to our main rivals. So the journey home began and you could defiantly feel the disappointed on the coach and it was so quite it felt odd! We arrived back around 10ish.

Here are some other images I took on the day!

Manchester United Vs Valencia

Manchester United - Old Trafford

Ground Number : 15
Manchester United 2-1 Valencia
12/08/14
Friendly

Can't believe this ground will be my third new ground of the new season! Old Trafford just wow! Also for a fact the highest attendance for this ground is 76,962 and that was between the team I support Grimsby Town and they played Wolves in 1939. But now days the attendance is 75,635 at Old Trafford so Grimsby & Wolves managed to have an extra 1000 at the game which is amazing.
Some other history about Old Trafford is that it is the second largest football stadium in the UK after Wembley and also it is the ninth largest in Europe.

So later on today I will be setting off to visit the home of Manchester United and also it is a home debut for new manager Louis Van Gaal after the sacking of David Moyes late last season. The journey began at 15:50 were we left the trawl but a hour into the trip we had a quick stoppage at a service station for a bite to eat were I bought a bacon wrap and a steak bake for just £3. We arrived at Manchester at 7pm only 45 minutes till kick off but we had a quick trip to the pub where I had a pint of fosters for FREE! Which you can't moan.... But it was time to make our way up to Old Trafford and the steps to get to the top stand took ages it felt like my legs were going to fall off haha. I also purchased a programme and a fan review for £6 and they are both very good reads.

It was time to play football! Manchester United had a line up off De Gea,  Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, James, Mata, Young, Herrera, Blackett, Fletcher, Rooney and Hernandez. A typical 3-5-2 formation from Van Gaal! Manchester United did have the chance to make it 1-0 from the penalty spot but Rooney saw his spot kick hit the post and it remained 0-0 unill the 49th minute by Darran Fletcher but then they was pegged by Valencia in the 71st minute where De Paul scored for them but when the match looked like it was going to end 1-1 substitute Fellaini scored in the 91st to give Manchester United the win. Second half Valencia matched United but it was that key moment what separated the two teams.

Overall this was one of the best moments I have witnessed so far except going to Wembley of course. The ticket was a very good price and the money to get there was a good price to top it off I even got a take away at 11.30pm at night haha. Hopefully I can do some more premier league games in the near future. Out of this experience I would rate it 8/10.

Gainsborough Trinity Vs Grimsby Town

Gainsborough Trinity - The Northolme

Lincs Cup (Semi Final)

Finally the second game of the season for me has arrived and its a lincs cup semi final match between Gainsborough Trinity and Grimsby Town. Last seasons runners up will host the 2012-2013 winners Grimsby Town. This competition has a bit of history behide its back and its a trophy in recent years what Grimsby like to win. I was really excited for this match for many reasons like seeing the new players once again and see how they perform and also its a new ground where I have never been. In truth I would of liked to gone to Boston because there ground seem much better.

I woke up at 7am for this match but to waste some time I played football manager 2015 till 10:45 then at 11am I left my house to catch the coach. We arrived at Gainsborough at 1.30pm so I just bought a chip bun for around £2 which is a very good price! After that I had a quick look at there club shop it was really small but they was selling old programmes, polo shirts and pens etc.

The matched was a very good one the conference north side pushed Grimsby all the way but Grimsby was 3-1 winners and went through to the final. Gainsborough went 1-0 through a penalty were the Grimsby keeper went the right way but he couldn't do another to save it.  But John-Paul Pitman saved the mariners from a shock defeat but when it looked like it was going into extra time Grimsby substitute Ross Hannah managed score two goals in injury time to save the mariners from extra time.

We arrived back home at 7pm and overall I enjoyed the occasion, Gainsborough would of been gutted but Grimsby took there chances.

Harrogate Town Vs Grimsby Town

Harrogate Town-Wetherby Road

Ground Number : 13
Harrogate 0-2 Grimsby Town
15/07/14
Friendly

Finally the wait is over! my first game of the season for this blog, I have attend two other friendlies but they was both at the Bradley community stadium in Grimsby!.  The first game of the season for this blog see's Harrogate Town taking on Grimsby Town in a friendly, this was going to be a hard game for Grimsby because Harrogate do have some good players in there side.

Some History about Harrogate Town
The demand for a first class ‘Association’ Town team had been growing for a number of years as the last century dawned. In fact, as far back as 1907/08 a club was registered under the name of ‘The Harrogate Town Club’, but got no further. In 1914 a club was formed as Harrogate AFC which secured admission to the Northern League for the 1914/15 campaign and were to play their home games at the County Ground behind the County Hotel (now the Mujib Restaurant). However, due to the Great War all games were postponed before fixtures could take place. Harrogate should have been playing at Bishop Auckland on Saturday 5 September, but sent a telegram two hours before kick-off stating they would not be arriving as most of the team had joined the Regiments.

My day was pretty straight forward, I tried to stay up all night and day. When it was midnight I was on Steam to my friend called Cameron we was talking about this upcoming game, I was going to watch some wrestling it started at 1pm and finishes at 4pm but my plan didn't happen because I fell asleep at 3am. I woke up at 10am and texted Cameron to see if he was up, I got a shower to wake me up and popped to the shop to get some batteries for my camera. From this point I was really bored there was nothing to do normally when I go to away games I leave very early in the morning so it felt strange.

I left my house around 2pm and met Cameron at my mums house we popped into two shops because I had to get a birthday card for my friend Russell! and also I had to get some food. We had to walk from my mums house to Stamford Club which would take 30 minutes, it was a good walk to be honest just speaking about lots of different things is good. I was looking forward of meeting Russell again I haven't seen him since last year so a good catch up would be good.

The coach left at 4.10pm and would take us 2 hours to get there which isn't that bad, I also sat with Cameron at the back of the coach. Nothing really happened on the coach we stopped for 30 minutes don't no why though because we was 20 minutes away from the ground, after we left again we was 5 minutes away from the Harrogate ground but strangely we parked into a school car park! so we had to walk up to the ground. When we got the ground I was expecting to spend £2 on a ticket and a programme instead I payed £2 to get in and £1 for a A4 piece of paper which was suppose to be a programme! to make things worse there club shop wasn't open after all of this I had a walk around the ground.

Here are some pictures

The game kicked off at 7.30pm just before the game started I bought a cheese burger and a bottle of coke which cost £5 still cheaper then Burger King! I sat down into my seat where Russell, Cameron and ben was my friend William came with me to get some food. After I eat the food the player came out and I managed to get some photos which you will see soon, Grimsby had 2 trail-lest in the starting 11!. Grimsby started the first 10 minutes very brightly but Harrogate dominated the rest of the half! they also had a goal disallowed for a person being offside and also James McKewon making a great save to keep the game 0-0 but then Scott Brown had a shot outside the box and a deflection happened and the ball just went past the keeper to make it 1-0 Grimsby then minutes later John-Lewis made it 2-0 from a cross by the Grimsby winger that was it for the first half.

Second half was good for the first 15 minutes then both teams really given up the best chance what happened was when the midfield who was on Trail had a shot outside the box and it hit the crossbar very unlucky! and that was it the game finished 2-0 for the mariners and also that is 3/3 wins for them. It was a okay match but it's only a friendly so nothing to worry about after the match finished we walked back to the coach and left again. We arrived back to Grimsby at 11.30pm and straight away I had to hide in a bush to have a wee! sorry to announce that but I was dying for one. I got home for about midnight after we had delays but overall I enjoyed my day I thought Harrogate had a good ground and met some good people.

Here are some other photos to look at.

Gateshead Vs Grimsby Town

Gateshead-International Stadium

Football Ground : 12
Gateshead 3-1 Grimsby Town
04/05/14
Skrill Premier (Play Offs)

I don't know what game is bigger Wrexham at Wembley or this one! this game was either going to decide if Grimsby were going to Wembley to have one last shot for promotion or if we lose we stay in this poor league.

Away day! I am up and ready at 7.15pm waiting to leave my house for a big day ahead of me, our coach left at a good time but I can't remember what time sorry but all I know is that it was going to be a long trip. It was such a boring trip up there I tried to go to sleep but it didn't work but we finally stop at a station for a bit to eat I got my self a KFC can't go wrong there!, we left the station and we was only 1 hour away from the ground I couldn't wait.

As our coach was driving up we saw lots of town fans but in the background was St James Park the home ground of Newcastle! and just in front of that is the Gateshead ground how strange is that?
we got parked up about 5 minutes away from the ground and we all walked up singing Grimsby songs.

The ticket was really cheap only £2 you can't go wrong for a away ticket in a play off game and the programme was a real struggle to get because I didn't see people selling them outside the ground so I had to buy one off someone inside the ground for the same price I was glad he would sell it to me as I said this is for my blog etc and he was happy to sell it

The game kicked off and it was Gateshead on the front pushing Grimsby to defend put James McKewon did one bad mistake and gave Gateshead a lead at half time, Grimsby had to come out fighting and things go worse when winger Scott Neilson got a red card for nothing the referee had a nightmare but then skipper Craig Disley scored and he ran straight into the Grimsby fans and it was that good a smoke bomb appeared it was 1-1 we had 10 men we was playing good it looked like we would get a win but NO! Sam Hatton out of all people got him self another yellow card and got a red card for 2 yellow cards I thought to my self WHY? and it went all wrong from there when late on Marwood scored a fantastic goal when he finessed the ball into the top left corner then to make it worse they made it 3-1 when our keeper Macca came out for the ball because there was no defence and the striker had a tap in and there 'fans' should I say Newcastle and Sunderland fans ran onto the pitch. That was it it Grimsby will be in this league again we should of won at home and if we did it could of been a different story.

Our players came out and clapped the fans and we clapped them back but the police are so annoying they push you for no reason!!! they got me around the neck for shaking a players hand how rude!
I even got my self in the paper with my scarf up.

Overall it was a sad day because we didn't achieve what we wanted and that was promotion but the positives is that we got the play offs again, we beat Scunthorpe in the Fa Cup and Sam Hatton got released.

Enjoy the other photos.
I'll see you all next season
Kieran.
